"Mr. Hope"
VENUE: doca de recreio de faro FROM: Scotland & Spain In a troubled news, at political, social and environmental levels, all of world we see signs of concern, but we hold within ourselves the hope that things will get better. This hope is innate and human survival. In an increasingly individualized and self-contained society, it is often difficult to want to be equal or to unite in the environmental cause, in gender equality, in the fight against racism or poverty. Hope is an equal shadow in all of us, we just have to let go and unite it. |

Tom&Lien Dekyvere
“RHIZOME”
VENUE: JARDIM MANUEL BIVAR from: BELGIUM The Installation "Rhizome" shows a geometric web made of fluorescent ropes, build on-site specific to Jardim Manuel Bivar. The web symbolizes the (dis)connectivity between entities in general. Like Rhizome structures in society, nature and technology. But also the reaction between clusters in the brain, organisations and interactions between structures in general. The work has been exhibited in different sizes worldwide, from the USA to Australia, China and Europe ... And now, in Faro Portugal. Tom&Lien Dekyvere Tom&Lien Dekyvere explore the deeper layers of reality and mind. Just as the alchemists of former times probing for unexpected connections, in search of the boundaries between nature and technology, between man and robot, between dead and living matter. As young, internationally known artists whose work stores strong visual appearance with zeitgeist-based content, they exhibit worldwide in public spaces, museums and cultural initiatives. |

"MAGNETIC BOX"
VENUE: ARCO DA VILA from: PORTUGAL 'Magnetic Box' is an instalation that reflects the energetic history of a magnetic fields set. It maps, through the objects' trajectory, streams that are not visible in the first place, but which become tangible when interpreted. It explores the longevity of the elements - with a short lifespan and in a contiguous circuit - which absorb and dispel luminous energy. It construes and converts energetic charges into elements of color that lose themselves in a timeline. It's a container. A container that identifies behaviors through a complex tangle of circuits which, apart from being phsically attracted, build a route influenced by the obstacles that occupy the same space. Lyft Creative Studio (2011), based in Porto (Portugal), established by Daniel Rodrigues (1985) and Tiago Soares da Costa (1988), both graphic designers exploring the concept between digital technology and visual impulse. Starting from digital and generative content they transcribe media into multimedia components by using video projection - Video mapping. |
Beau McClellan
"STAINED"
VENUE: câmara municipal de faro FROM: scotland In the early 70's of the XX century a stained-glass window was placed on the landing of the main staircase of the Paços do Concelho building, by Francisco Rebocho. The stained, alluding to the conquest of the city, represents King D. Afonso III kneeling at the feet of Santa Maria to thank the victory over the Moors. In LUZA, the artist Beau McClellan, reinterprets this moment of Faro's history, in a video maping project, which aims to alert to the manipulation of history and reality, with the successive presentation of "fake news", and the effect this could have in our history. Beau McClellan is an artist and designer renowned for his extraordinary light installations and multi-award winning branded ranges. A creative force of boundless enthusiasm, he started as a designer-blacksmith, mastering discipline after discipline, hungry for new methods of expression. From film to music and now to illumination Beau sees no need to confine his love for art, his joy of redefinition now inspiring the same passion in a vibrant team of artists. |

Chloe & Pedro
"LOOM"
VENUE: FÁBRICA DA CERVEJA FROM: ITALY & PORTUGAL (Light Installation / Tape Mapping) This artwork of Chloe and Pedro is a site-specific multimedia installation that conjugates their artistic expressions. Both artists research is based on the use of light and space. The exploration of the human perception of these two elements in their work is an analysis of the environment, in which the installed piece turns into a narrative that involves nature and the human desire to control chaos. Chloe’s research investigates the geometrical patterns found in nature. In the same way, the water of a lake circulates in a basin, creating sediment on its shores, her practice is the elaboration of an image that surfaces as a memory. Pedro’s practice is based on the duality of space and experience. Depending on our focus we can observe it’s a reflection or go beyond the surface and dive into its depths.” |

Atsara
“[m]ondes”
VENUE: museu municipal de faro from: france Appearing out of darkness, sparks of light appeared and then vanished, creating a mesmerising choreography with a magical and hypnotic power. In a continuous metamorphosis, both cyclical and unpredictable this site specific installation combines the slow and regular movement of geometrical shapes and the abundance of fleeting light particles. This meditative work has the presence of an organic complex system, of a multiform living matter. It offers the experience of an immersion in weightless worlds, changing the perception of volumes and the relation to space, borderline the loss of any point of reference. The work is described with the wordplay on “onde” (French for “wave”) and “monde” (French for “world”). ATSARA (Roland Devocelle / Audrey Rocher) French artists Roland Devocelle and Audrey Rocher were originally performers, and in their art they have emphasised improvisation. In 2000, together with the Atsara duo, they began creating multi¬genre projects based on audiovisual improvisation. Since 2008, they have been working with projection and focusing on the interplay of objects in motion. They experiment with types of materials and space as well as with human perception and imagination. Their kinetic lit installations have been presented so far in countries including France, England, Poland, Switzerland and Portugal. The artists’ duo Audrey Rocher and Roland Devocelle, the team of Atsara stages in their lumino kinetic works the relationship between light, space and time in their ephemerality. They experiment with the appearance of spaces and materials, as well as with the interplay between perception and imagination. Atsara stages the interfaces of darkness and light, of space and surface, of color and material in a continuous metamorphosis rendering visible the poetry of mathematics and physics. |

Aurora Destro Dolo, Venezia, 1989 - works with visuals and the spatial project. Her research investigates the ephemeral aspect of space design, exploring the themes of light, nature, time and digital space.
